The Portland Thorns FC defeated the Washington Spirit 3-0 at Audi Field in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) semifinal on Sunday, October 23, 2023.
Portland took an early 1-0 lead in the 2nd minute when Sophia Smith scored a goal off an assist from Hina Sugita.
Portland Thorns FC would go on to score 2 more goals, from Christine Sinclair and Morgan Weaver to seal the 3-0 victory.
Despite a valiant effort from the Washington Spirit and USWNT goalkeeper Nicole Barnhart, they were unable to make the comeback.
Portland Thorns FC will face the Kansas City Current in the NWSL Championship Game on October 29, 2023.
